Living on the water
The launch of AquaVilla in 2000 gave living on the water a whole new meaning. A lakeside plot on land was redefined as a lakeside plot on the water. Today, there are already AquaVillas in several places in Sweden. Today, 15 “Lakeside Villas” are permanently located in Svindersviken in Nacka. A further 25 villas are […]

Marine communities with the highest comfort and accessibility
To build a functioning marine community, comfort and accessibility comparable to a residential area on the land slope are required. To achieve this, we have developed the Aquapiren and the AquaDockingBuffert. The structures are the result of seven years of development work. AQUAPIERSThe Aquapiers have a width of 7-18 meters to provide stability and load-bearing […]
It has been shown that people who live in marine communities feel better than people who live on land. This is because the surrounding water reflects a lot of light.
A pioneering builder
AquaVilla started the first large-scale production of villas for permanent residence on “real” waterfront properties in 2000. Eight villas were produced for permanent anchorage in Pampas Marina in Solna, Sweden. The team that started the business today has unbeatable experience of the requirements that must be placed on residential buildings on the water – houses that will withstand life on the water for decades without major maintenance.
AquaVilla's concept includes a total infrastructure solution where AquaPir and AquaDockingBuffert ensure that the villas are firmly anchored without being affected by sea currents and waves. AquaVilla is a professional developer who takes total responsibility all the way to finished housing on a "real" waterfront property.
For those of you who simply want to buy a villa on the water and moor it at your own boat mooring, that is also fine of course. Contact us for more information.
AquaVilla builds the sustainable floating buildings of the future
Our sustainability work. At AquaVilla, we build docks, pontoons and floating villas with a clear ambition: to create long-term sustainable marine environments where people can live, work and socialize – without compromising the climate or the needs of future generations. We are based on the UN Climate Convention and the Paris Agreement, and our work is guided by three central sustainability perspectives: environmental, social and economic sustainability.
Environmental sustainability. We use materials with a long lifespan, low environmental impact and a high recycling rate. Our structures are designed to minimize the impact on marine ecosystems, lakebed environments and water quality. We optimize energy consumption through energy-efficient systems and enable the integration of solar energy and other renewable solutions. Transport and work processes are planned to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in line with the goals of the Paris Agreement.
Social sustainability. We create safe, accessible and inclusive environments for all users. Our projects are carried out in close dialogue with local communities, municipalities and stakeholders. Work environment and safety are central in every project phase – from design to installation.
Economic sustainability. We build for long-term quality, low operating costs and sustainable investments. Our solutions are developed to provide high longevity and minimal future maintenance. Through innovation and effective project management, we create economically sustainable alternatives for both the private and public sectors.
Building on water – an untapped opportunity for the future
A central question we need to ask ourselves is: What right do we humans have to develop forest clearings and farmland when over 70 percent of the Earth's surface consists of water?
Several future scenarios highlight just this – how water areas can be used in completely new ways to create sustainable living environments. Visions of floating cities, residential areas on pontoons and artificial islands combine housing, energy production and even food cultivation in a way that both relieves pressure on land-based resources and creates climate-adapted societies.
How we choose to use our land and water areas in the future is fundamentally a question of resource management and sustainable development. It is about balancing environmental concerns, agricultural production, urbanization and technological advances – while creating space for the habitats of the future.
Living on the water
Floating homes, and more
Today, Aquavillas are already available in several locations in Sweden, and in 2022, the delivery of 15 Aquavillas to Marinstaden in Nacka was completed. Another twenty or so plots with water villas are for sale for permanent anchorage in Skeppsbrostaden in Västervik. AquaVilla is today a world-leading company when it comes to planning and developing marine communities both in Sweden and abroad. Agency agreements have been signed with companies representing AquaVilla in the Baltics, Finland, Denmark and Norway.
A modern marine community is built on exactly the same conditions as living on land – sustainable, environmentally friendly, accessible, disability-friendly, comfortable and safe. In places where there is a shortage of land for parking, we can also build parking garages in our AquaPir with space for 20-65 cars. A big difference between communities on land and water is that the marine community does not leave any deep traces or wounds behind if there is a need for a change in urban planning in the future.
Our business concept
The business idea behind the success of AquaVilla has, since its inception in 2000, been "to manufacture and sell high-quality, environmentally friendly floating houses, as well as to develop marine communities and contribute to creating and completing building rights on the water."
